When BCCI released the retention policy, it said that each team can retain 5 players and can play the right to match card on one player. A team can change the number of players purchased through retained and RTM cards, but the total of both should be maximum 6. According to a media report, LSG can give a salary of Rs 21 crore to Nicholas Puran.
According to Rev Sport, Nicholas Pooran can be retained for Rs 21 crore. Apart from them, Mayank Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi can both be retained for Rs 11 crore each. Whereas Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni can be retained as uncapped players. The maximum salary of an uncapped player is Rs 4 crore. If LSG retains these players then these players will be retained for a total of Rs 51 crore. In such a situation, Lucknow can fetch Rs 69 crore in the mega auction.
Lucknow team was formed in IPL 2022. After that, KL Rahul had taken this team to the playoffs twice in a row under his captaincy, but in IPL 2024, this team remained at seventh place. Now there is speculation that Nicholas Puran will get the captaincy of the team, who had scored 499 runs in 14 matches last season.
