Harbhajan Singh on MS Dhoni CSK Retention IPL 2025: Whether MS Dhoni will play in IPL 2025 or not, will Chennai retain him as an uncapped player or the first pick. The maximum salary of an uncapped player is Rs 4 crore, while the first player a team can retain is Rs 18 crore. Indian fans want to know the answers to all these questions, meanwhile Harbhajan Singh, who has played for Chennai Super Kings, has given rise to new possibilities with his opinion.
While discussing on a podcast, Harbhajan Singh discussed the retention strategy of CSK. He told, “I cannot say anything with certainty whether Dhoni is playing or not. If he plays, he will be the team’s first choice for retention. Even if he is seen as an uncapped player.”
Whom will CSK retain apart from Dhoni?
Harbhajan Singh further said that after MS Dhoni, CSK’s targets could be Ravindra Jadeja and Rachin Ravindra. Jadeja who has 10 years of experience playing for CSK. On the other hand, New Zealand all-rounder Rachin made his IPL debut last season itself, where he scored 222 runs in 10 matches for CSK.
The former Indian spin bowler also told that Chennai can retain Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs 18 crore. Chennai performed well under the captaincy of Gaikwad in IPL 2024 and the team was heading towards the playoffs, but was out of the playoffs due to defeat in the last match of the league stage. The fifth player could be Sri Lankan fast bowler Mathisha Pathirana, who created a sensation in the IPL world by performing brilliantly for CSK in the last two seasons.
Probable retention list of CSK according to Harbhajan Singh: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rachin Ravindra, Mathisha Pathirana.
