Shahid Afridi on Champions Trophy 2025: BCCI and PCB are at loggerheads over Champions Trophy 2025, now former Pakistani cricketer has called it a politically motivated issue. He has expressed concern that international cricket will be hurt administratively due to politics. Afridi has expressed his disappointment by posting this on social media at a time when ICC meeting is going to be held on 29th November. In this meeting, the topic of Indian team going to Pakistan and hybrid model can be discussed.
Posting on social media, the veteran Pakistani cricketer said, “By linking sports with politics, BCCI has put international cricket in a precarious position. I fully support the PCB’s decision to oppose the hybrid model, especially because Because the Pakistani team has toured India 5 times, including the white ball bilateral series after the 26/11 attacks, now the time has come when the ICC and its Board of Directors maintain their authority. Show.”

Pakistan Cricket Board has already opposed Team India’s matches being held in UAE or any other country. But due to India’s stance, ICC is also stuck in a situation of crisis because due to delay in the schedule, broadcasters have started putting pressure on the International Cricket Council. For now, the hybrid model seems to be the best option, but PCB’s stance also remains a matter of great concern for the ICC.
It has even been said that if an attempt is made to implement the hybrid model in any way, Pakistan will withdraw its name from the tournament. On the other hand, due to Team India not being in the Champions Trophy, ICC, broadcasters and even the PCB itself may have to suffer huge losses.
