The actor we are talking about is none other than Vijay Verma. Yes, Vijay ran away from his home to Mumbai to become an actor. Vijay Verma, who has made a mark with his acting in Bollywood films and OTT, belongs to a Marwari family of Hyderabad.
Vijay’s father is a businessman so he wanted his son to take care of the business, however, Vijay’s dream was to become a hero. So he decided to fulfill his dream and went against his family and made a career in acting.
In an interview, Vijay Varma had revealed that he ran away from home due to issues with his father and did not even speak to him for seven to eight years. The Darlings actor had told Film Companion, “I was the youngest so I was spoiled. Until I reached an age where I started putting my own ideas and he did not like it. He wanted me to join the business and I wanted to do anything other than working with him. So, that’s where the struggle started, and he was also strong with his stand and I was fighting for my stand.”
She further added, “This went on for many years until I decided, ‘I don’t think this man wants anything good for me’, then I ran away from home and then there was no communication for 7-8 years.”
Vijay came to Mumbai to become a hero but getting work here was not that easy. He faced a lot of hardships. Then he started his career as a theatre artist. After this, Vijay got his first film Chittagong in 2010 and then he never looked back.
In a recent interview to Galata Plus, Vijay Verma had told that due to not being in a good financial condition, he once had to accept a role which he did not want to do. The actor had told, “It has always been about the role for me, but once I was in my lowest phase, I had no money, I had 18 rupees in my bank account and then a call came. They said there is a small reporter’s role and it is a day job and you will get 3000 rupees. I never wanted to play such a role but I took it and I started shooting but my heart was not there, my conviction was not there and I was faltering in the takes.”
He further added, “And it was in English, so I thought it was not easy to play the role of an English reporter. So, I was thrown out of the set and I had completed Monsoon Shootout by that time, so I played the lead role. Then, but I went through that experience and while coming back I was crying, I told myself that I will never do anything just for money. This happened in 2014 and since then I have not done anything just for the sake of money.
In an interview with News 18, Vijay Verma had revealed that he was dropped from a film because an astrologer did not like his pictures. The actor had said, “Once I got to know that I have been selected for a role and then I was asked to send some pictures. I will not reveal the name, who asked me. After that I was dropped from the film and I believe the reason was that an astrologer did not like my pictures. He did not approve the prospect of casting me. The astrologer did not believe in me.”
Let us tell you that Vijay Verma has done many great films and series in his career so far. Vijay Verma is known for his roles in Pink (2016) and Middle-Class Abbayi (2017), Gully Boy (2019), and Baaghi 3 (2020). His strong performance in Gully Boy also earned him a Filmfare nomination. After this, he became very famous in the double role of Bade Tyagi and Chote Tyagi in Mirzapur, Mirzapur 2 and Mirzapur 3. At the same time, the actor’s Darlings (2022) was also well-liked.
Vijay Verma is the owner of property worth crores today. According to media reports, Vijay’s total net worth in the year 2023 was 2 million dollars i.e. about 17 crores rupees. Vijay charges more than 85 lakh rupees for one of his films. He also earns lakhs of rupees every month from many brand endorsements.
