A recent example of this was seen during the Rawalpindi Test match. Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in this match. Shakib threw the ball in anger during this match. For this, the ICC has fined him. Shakib has suffered another loss along with the fine.
ICC has imposed a fine of 10 percent of the match fee on Shakib. Along with this, he has also been given 1 demerit point. He has committed a Level 1 offense under the ICC Code of Conduct. Shakib threw the ball angrily towards Mohammad Rizwan in the 33rd over during Pakistan’s innings. Rizwan was looking back and then Shakib ran to bowl. But Rizwan was not ready. He got angry at this and threw the ball. Seeing this, the umpire also expressed his displeasure.
When and how does ICC impose fines –
Shakib has been fined under Article 2.9. ICC has also provided information about this on its website. Under this, if a player throws a ball, bat or any other thing including a water bottle, then he is fined 10 percent of the match fee. However, the fine is not decided only on this matter. It is also seen that no other player or umpire has suffered any harm due to this. If it does, then there is a separate provision for this.
Bangladesh and Pakistan have also been fined –
ICC has also imposed fines on Pakistan and Bangladesh teams. Pakistan has been fined 30 percent of its match fees due to slow over rate. Along with this, points have also been deducted from the World Test Championship points table. Bangladesh has been fined 15 percent of its match fees.
