Naseeruddin Shah: Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah told in a recent interview that he is suffering from a disease called onomatopoeia. Actually, patients of this disease use certain words repeatedly in their conversations. The actor says that even when he sleeps, he is haunted by the thought of this disease.
On this entire matter, ABP Live Hindi had a special conversation with Dr. Basab Raj Ghosh, a psychologist at ‘Narayana Hospital’ in Kolkata. He said that take an example, if a person starts singing a song and does not stop. This can also mean that you are suffering from onomatopoeia. This disease is a little different from other diseases. Very few people would know about it.
According to experts, this disease is a mental disorder. In this disease, the person uses a word or sentence repeatedly. If the person is not able to use that word, he starts feeling restless. Due to which he starts getting upset and frustrated. This further leads to anxiety, irritability and anger. This disease is considered a part of personality. The specialty of this disease is that it is more likely to occur in people who read and write related to literature and art. In this, the person does not remain silent but keeps repeating his favorite word even while sleeping.

According to health experts, there is no exact treatment for this. If you want to keep it under control, you will have to make special changes in your lifestyle and routine. Once someone gets this disease, then no medicine but only your practice can keep it under control.
You can get CBT i.e. cognitive behaviour therapy. Apart from this, medicines for anxiety and depression are also given in this disease.
