Rohit Sharma Texted Piyush Chawla Late Night: Whether it is the Indian cricket team or the IPL, Rohit Sharma is highly praised for his leadership skills. Rohit has made Mumbai Indians champion five times while captaining the IPL and has also won the T20 World Cup for India in 2024. Players have often praised the experience of working with Rohit and now Piyush Chawla’s name has also been added to this list.
Piyush Chawla had a great season of the Indian Premier League in 2023, in which he took 22 wickets in 16 matches. During a conversation with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra, Piyush told that once Rohit messaged him at 2.30 in the night.
Piyush Chawla said, “I have played a lot of cricket with Rohit Sharma and now we talk openly. Once Rohit messaged me at 2:30 in the night and asked, ‘Are you awake?’ He drew a ground on a piece of paper and talked about the plan to get David Warner out. He was thinking even at that time about how he can bring out the best in me.”
Rohit Sharma is a leader, not a captain
In the same interview, Piyush Chawla used the word ‘leader’ for Rohit Sharma and not ‘captain’. According to Chawla, the whole world saw his leadership skills in the 2023 ODI World Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup. Chawla said, “There is a captain and then comes the leader. Rohit is not a captain but a leader. Whether it is the 2023 ODI World Cup or the T20 World Cup 2024, the way he batted, the pressure on the lower order batsmen was reduced. Being a true leader, he tries to reduce the pressure on fellow players.”
