Stock Market Closing On 3 September 2024: The major index of the Indian stock market, Sensex and Nifty, closed flat. However, in today’s session, strong buying was seen in the shares of banking and consumer durables sector. In today’s session, mid-cap and small-cap stocks also saw a boom, due to which the market cap of the market reached an all-time high. At the close of the market, the BSE Sensex closed flat at 82,555 and Nifty at 25,279 points.
Sectoral Updates
In today’s trade, there was a strong buying in consumer durables stocks, due to which Nifty’s Consumer Durables Index closed with a jump of 538 points. Due to buying in banking stocks, Nifty’s Bank Index closed with a jump of more than 250 points. Apart from this, there was buying in pharma stocks. While the shares of IT, Auto, FMCG, Metals, Energy, Real Estate sector closed with a fall. There was buying in mid-cap and small-cap stocks in today’s session and both the indexes in Nifty closed with gains.
Market cap at all-time high
The market cap has reached a record high due to the boom in the Indian stock market, especially due to buying in banking and mid-cap and small-cap stocks. The market cap of the stocks listed on the BSE has closed at Rs 465.48 lakh crore, which is an all-time high. In the last session, the market cap was Rs 464.85 lakh crore. In today’s session, the market cap has seen a jump of Rs 63,000 crore.
