Hubli Tigers vs Bengaluru Blasters Three Super Overs: Last Friday, Hubli Tigers vs Bengaluru Blasters match was held in Maharaja T20 Trophy. This match had fans holding their breath as it saw not one, not two but three super overs. This happened for the first time in cricket history. Playing first, Hubli Tigers scored 164 runs on the scoreboard under the captaincy of Manish Pandey. When Bengaluru Blasters came to chase the target, they too could score only 164 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Captain Mayank Agarwal played an innings of 54 runs for Bengaluru. But after this, two super overs were tied and finally the result of the match was decided after the third super over.
In this match, Hubli Tigers had set a target of 165 runs for Bengaluru Blasters. No batsman from the team could play a big innings, but three batsmen scored more than 30 runs. Captain Manish Pandey contributed 33 runs, Mohammad Taha contributed 31 and Anishwar Gautam contributed 30 runs. Bowling for Bengaluru, Lavish Kaushal took 5 wickets for just 17 runs in 4 overs.
For the Bangalore team that came to chase the target, captain Mayank Agarwal played an innings of 54 runs in 34 balls, but apart from him no other player could play a big innings. Suraj Ahuja scored 26 and Naveen played a cameo innings of 23 runs in 11 balls in the last overs. But all these efforts were unable to give victory to Bangalore, but the match was definitely tied.
Status of three super overs
First Super Over- When Bengaluru Blasters came to play the first super over, Mayank Agarwal was out on the very first ball. Only 4 runs were scored in the first 5 balls, but Anirudh Joshi hit a six on the last ball to take the team’s score to 10 runs. Hubli Tigers, who came to chase the target of 11 runs, scored 9 runs in the first 4 balls, but Lavish Kaushal gave only one run in the last 2 balls. Due to this the first super over was tied.
Second Super Over- In the second super over, Hubli Tigers batted first and scored 8 runs without hitting any boundary. But Bengaluru Blasters’ super over proved to be very exciting. After a four on the first ball, the second ball was a dot and then on the third ball LR Chetan got run out while trying to take the second run. Only 3 runs were scored in the last 3 balls, due to which both the teams remained equal in the second super over as well.
The result was declared in the third super over- Bangalore Blasters had scored only 6 runs in the first 5 balls of the third super over, but Shubhangi Hegde hit a six on the last ball. Hubli Tigers, chasing the target of 13 runs, had scored 9 runs in the first 5 balls. Then Manwant Kumar hit a four on the last ball to give Hubli Tigers a thrilling victory.
