Hardik Pandya IND vs SL: Hardik Pandya has performed brilliantly for Team India as an all-rounder many times. He is also a senior player. But despite this, he could not become the captain after Rohit Sharma’s T20 retirement. Suryakumar Yadav was given preference in his place. Former New Zealand cricketer Scott Styris has reacted on this issue. Styris said that India’s current focus is on making Pandya a full all-rounder. Leadership role should be looked at later.
Styris has said about Pandya that he should be left alone to develop himself as a player. According to a report in India Today, he said, “My opinion on Hardik Pandya is that he should be left alone. He should be left to develop as a player. At present, one should not think about becoming a captain or vice-captain. Once he gets his body fit and is set, then he should be brought into the role of captaincy.”
Styris says that Pandya is a very good player and can handle senior players. The T20 series between India and Sri Lanka is starting from Saturday. Surya will captain India in this series. Pandya is troubled by personal issues. He recently separated from his wife Natasha Stankovic. However, Pandya’s full focus is now on the T20 series.
