IPL 2025 Retention List: All the teams are going to release their respective retention lists regarding IPL 2025. Each team can retain 5 players and play the Right to Match card on one player. Some teams may retain five, some four and some may retain even less players. Meanwhile, there is speculation about the release of many famous and legendary players. This list also includes some names who may be released from the team due to their increasing age or poor form and after that perhaps no one may buy them in the auction.
1. Manish Pandey
Manish Pandey is one of the few cricketers who has been playing in IPL since 2008. He has scored 3,850 runs in 171 matches in his IPL career. Manish has changed 4 teams in the last four seasons and has played only 25 matches in the last four seasons. He played only one match in IPL 2024. His strike rate is 121, which is very low for T20 cricket. Anyway, the era of giving opportunities to youth has started, so even if any team buys Manish Pandey, it will probably be very difficult for him to get a chance to play.
2. Vijay Shankar
Vijay Shankar is a fast bowling all-rounder. His statistics in first-class cricket are very good, but he does not appear to be an ideal player in T20 cricket. He has been a part of Gujarat Titans since 2022 and it is almost certain that he will enter the auction. In IPL 2024, he scored 83 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of just 115.
3. Amit Mishra
Amit Mishra was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in 2023. The last 2 seasons have proved that even if he continues to play in the IPL, he may not get a chance in the playing eleven. In the last 2 years, he has played only 8 matches, in which he has only 8 wickets to his name. His age will soon cross 42 years and he has not played much cricket in the last few years. For this reason hardly any team bids on him in the auction.
4. Riddhiman Saha
Wriddhiman Saha has also been a good player in the longer format of cricket, but his figures in T20 cricket are so bad that he could never make his T20 debut for India. Wriddhiman Saha, who has been playing for Gujarat Titans since 2022, scored only 136 runs while playing 9 matches in IPL 2024. In 2014, he scored 362 runs playing at a very good strike rate, but after that his performance has been continuously declining. Due to this poor batting, he may go unsold in the auction.
5. David Warner
David Warner had retired from all forms of cricket after Australia’s exit from the T20 World Cup this year. After that, he remained in the headlines due to the news of his return to international cricket, but his poor form seemed to be dominating him in IPL 2024. After being out of international cricket, perhaps this time no IPL franchise will show any interest in him. Last season, only 168 runs were scored from his bat.
