Pat Cummins Break Before Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be played between India and Australia will start from November 22, 2024. The last match of this five-match Test trophy will be played from January 03, 2025. Before this trophy, Australia’s Test and ODI captain Pat Cummins decided to take a break of about 2 months from cricket, which is really surprising.
Cummins is thinking of giving himself maximum rest before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In July, he made his debut in the Major League Cricket tournament, but after playing 6 matches, the Australian captain withdrew his name. Not only this, Cummins will also keep himself away from the 3 T20 and five-match ODI series on the England tour next month. He revealed about his break while talking to ‘Fox Sports’.
The Kangaroo captain said, “Whatever comes after the break, it is refreshing. You don’t regret it. I have been bowling for almost 18 months since the final of the World Test Championship. I will stay away from bowling during the break. I will get a good seven or eight weeks and the body will recover.”
He further said, “Then the preparations for summer will begin. By doing this you can bowl for some more time. It becomes easier to maintain the speed and this also reduces the risk of injury.”
Border-Gavaskar Trophy was played last time on India tour
It is worth noting that earlier the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played in 2023 was hosted by India, in which four Tests were played. Team India won 2-1 in the 2023 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Now the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be played in 2024-25 will be hosted by Australia. The first match of the series will be played in Perth, the second in Adelaide, the third in Brisbane, the fourth in Melbourne and the fifth in Sydney.
