WTC Points Table: Bangladesh cricket team has created history by defeating Pakistan in its own home. On the last day of the second test match played in Rawalpindi, the visiting team had to score 143 runs to win and all wickets were in hand. Bangladesh has won the second match by 6 wickets and this is the first time in the history of cricket that Bangladesh has defeated Pakistan in a test series. Pakistan’s defeat and Bangladesh’s victory have changed the equations in the points table of the World Test Championship.
Bangladesh reached fourth place
Let us remind you that Bangladesh had given Pakistan a taste of a big defeat of 10 wickets in the first match. Now, with a victory of 6 wickets in the second match, it has got an advantage in the WTC points table. Since the table is prepared according to the percentage of points, Bangladesh has now come to the fourth position with 45.83 percent. In this list, Bangladesh has now overtaken teams like England and South Africa.
Can Bangladesh play the final?
The team led by Nazmul Shanto may have whitewashed Pakistan in the Test series. But the road to the final is not easy for them. In a few weeks, Bangladesh team is going to play two Test matches with India, after that it has to play a two Test match series against South Africa in October. If Bangladesh has to make the road to the title clash easy, then it will have to win the next two series but this seems to be a very difficult task.
Pakistan is in bad shape
Pakistan’s condition has become very bad because in the current session of the World Test Championship, it has won only 2 out of 7 matches. The situation is such that the points percentage of the Pak team is only 19.05 and it has slipped to the ninth position in the table. Pakistan still has to play Test series with England, South Africa and then West Indies, but even after winning them, Pakistan may not be able to make it to the finals.
India on top
Currently, India’s points percentage is 68.52, so Team India is currently at the top of the table. At the same time, Australia is in second place with 60 percent. New Zealand (50 percent), which is in third place, is far behind, so it seems as if the final match of the 2023 World Test Championship can be repeated once again.
