James Anderson IPL 2025 Mega Auction: England’s great fast bowler James Anderson is going to enter the IPL auction for the first time. He has set his base price at Rs 1.25 crore. He is among the 1,574 cricketers who have registered their names for the upcoming mega auction. Looking at the number of players, it is clear that this time the competition level in the mega auction is going to be tremendous. In such a situation, the question arises whether any team will bid on 42-year-old James Anderson?
The oldest player to play in the IPL is Australia’s Brad Hogg, who played in the Indian Premier League at the age of 45. Now James Anderson’s name can also be added to the list of these aging players. Actually, there are many aspects due to which James Anderson can go unsold in the mega auction.
Haven’t played T20 cricket for 10 years
The first reason for no bid on James Anderson in the mega auction could be that he has not played any T20 match in the last 10 years. In 2014, he played a T20 match for Lancashire in England’s domestic cricket. It has been more than 15 years since he played an International T20 match. He played 44 matches in his T20 career, in which he took 41 wickets.
base price higher
Since James Anderson has not played any T20 match for the last 10 years and he has not played any ODI match after 2015. This clearly means that it has been a long time since Anderson even had the white ball in his hand. In such a situation, the franchise will also be in a dilemma as to how Anderson will be able to perform after a 10-year long break. His base price is also Rs 1.25 crore, which seems quite high. If the base price had been in lakhs, then perhaps Anderson would have been easily sold in the auction, but at the base price of Rs. 1.25 crores, there seems to be very little hope of him getting bid for it.
