In the second test of the series played in Galle, Sri Lanka completely dominated New Zealand. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat and declared the innings after scoring 602/5 runs in the first innings. During this period, a total of three centuries were seen from Sri Lanka, in which Kamindu Mendis played the biggest innings of 182 runs with the help of 16 fours and 4 sixes.
Apart from Kamindu Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal scored 116 runs with the help of 15 fours. Rest Kusal Mendis played an inning of 106* runs with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes.
New Zealand got upset by giving follow-on, Sri Lankan bowlers dominated
The New Zealand team, which came out to bat in its first innings, was all out for just 88 runs on the third day of the match. During this period, Prabhat Jayasuriya took maximum 6 wickets for Sri Lanka. The remaining three wickets were taken by Nishan Peiris and one by Asitha Fernando.
After bowling out New Zealand for just 88 runs, Sri Lanka had a lead of 514 runs, due to which the host team invited New Zealand for their second innings by giving follow-on instead of batting in the second innings. In this way New Zealand needed 515 runs to win.
New Zealand, chasing the target in its second innings, was all out for 360 runs. In this way, the Kiwi team had to face defeat in the match by one innings and 154 runs.
