Expressed desire to play test match
Surya had expressed his desire to play Test cricket for India some time back. Speaking to ‘The Hindu’, Surya had said, “Red ball cricket has always been my priority. When I grew up in the fields of Mumbai and played a lot of folk cricket, I started playing with the red cherry. That’s where the love for the long format started and it has always been there. I have participated in many first-class matches for more than 10 years and I still love playing in this format. There is no question about it and that’s why I have come here ahead of the Duleep Trophy.”
