Actor Who Rejected Karan Johar Film: There are many actors in Bollywood who have made their own place by working hard. They have won the hearts of the audience on the basis of their acting. When an actor wins the hearts of the audience, then whether his films are flops or hits, he always remains up for the fans. There is one such actor who refused to work with Karan Johar in the beginning of his career. He was also blacklisted from the industry, but when he debuted, his film collected more than 200 crores.
The actor we are talking about is none other than Siddhant Chaturvedi. Siddhant made his debut with Gully Boy and his acting in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan has also been praised a lot. But there was a time when he had to struggle a lot.
Karan Johar’s film was refused
Siddhant started acting in theatre and plays from college. After winning the Popular Face contest in college, Siddhant left his CA final exams and started giving auditions. He also cleared the audition for Brahmastra being produced by Karan Johar, but later on, after his father’s advice, he refused to work in this film. Although he was offered a contract for three films, he refused.
Papa had said this
In an interview to Human of Bombay, Siddhant told how his father refused to work in Brahmastra. He was writing the script at that time and I was very excited. But my father did not let me do this. He said – you are much better than this. Even today he pushes me. I was very happy that I was going to get a three-film contract with Dharma. I met Ayan, who showed me his vision about Brahmastra. I had only done a few advertisements till then, so I was nobody. I told my father that ‘the film has Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan and he asked me, ‘So who will look at you?’ He said, ‘No son, I don’t think you should do this. Do you have a script, have you auditioned for it? If you don’t even know what you are going to do in that film, then don’t sell your fate.’
Was blacklisted from the industry
Siddhant told that after rejecting many films, he was blacklisted from the industry. The problem was not that I did not have any offers, but I knew that I only wanted to be a hero, wanted to do lead roles. I will act, I have worked hard on my craft, but I wanted to make a big splash. I was shortlisted for many films, which I turned down saying that I do not think it can do justice to my idea. I was blacklisted, because people thought, ‘Who is this person who is refusing?’; I refused to play side characters, because I knew that I have a lot of potential. I did not want to underestimate myself.
Debuted with Gully Boy
Siddhant made his Bollywood debut with Zoya Akhtar’s film Gully Boy. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt were seen in lead roles with him in this film. This film collected 200 crores at the box office. Now Siddhant will soon be seen in Dhadak 2 and Yudhra.
