Stock Market Closing On 27 August 2024: Tuesday’s trading session for the Indian stock market was dominated by small cap stocks. Due to buying in small cap stocks, the Nifty’s small cap index has managed to touch a lifetime high. The Nifty midcap index remained just a few steps away from touching the all-time high. At the market close today, the BSE Sensex and the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed with a slight increase. The Sensex closed at 81,711 with a jump of 14 points and the Nifty closed at 25,018 with a jump of 7.15 points. The Nifty has managed to close above 25,000 for the second consecutive day.

In today’s trade, out of 30 Sensex stocks, 11 stocks closed with gains and 19 with losses. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 21 stocks closed with gains while 29 with losses. Among the gainers, Bajaj Finserv closed with a gain of 2.37%, Maruti Suzuki 1.87%, L&T 1.61%, Bajaj Finance 1.37%, Infosys 1.11%, Sun Pharma 1.02%, Axis Bank 0.74%, ICICI Bank 0.63%, Bharti Airtel 0.51%, Asian Paints closed with a gain of 0.15%. Whereas HUL closed with a loss of 2.01%, Titan closed with a loss of 1.89%. Apart from this, Tata Motors shares closed with a loss of 1.37%, NTPC 1.24%, ITC 1.01% and Power Grid closed with a loss of 0.90%.
Market cap at all-time high
Due to the spectacular rise in mid-cap and small-cap stocks, there has been a huge jump in the wealth of investors in the market. The market capitalization of the stocks listed on BSE has closed at an all-time high of Rs 463.08 lakh crore, which was Rs 462.29 lakh crore in the previous session. That is, in today’s session, there has been a jump of Rs 79000 crore in the wealth of investors.
Nifty small-cap index at all-time high
In today’s trade, banking, IT, pharma, media, healthcare and oil and gas sector stocks closed with gains while consumer durables, auto, energy metals and FMCG stocks closed with losses. Nifty’s small-cap index has managed to touch an all-time high of 19,349.25 points. The midcap index also saw a great rise.
