Saudi Arabia Visa Rules: If you are planning to go to Saudi Arabia, then this news is for you. Saudi has issued a new rule for tourists coming to the country with Umrah and travel visa. Its purpose is to prevent the spread of any kind of infectious disease in the country.
It is necessary for tourists to take meningitis vaccine
Usually, lakhs of Indians go to Saudi Arabia every year. About 2.5 million Indian citizens went to Saudi Arabia in the year 2022. This figure is expected to increase to 7.5 million by the year 2030.
In such a situation, the government here has made meningitis vaccine mandatory for tourists coming to Saudi. This means that now tourists coming here will be required to show the certificate of meningitis vaccine administered 10 days before the trip. However, children below one year of age are kept out of this rule.
Guidelines also issued for polio vaccination
Saudi Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) has asked airlines to ensure compliance with this rule. Under this, the airlines will have to verify that all the passengers traveling have a vaccination certificate. Not only this, guidelines have also been issued for polio vaccination.
However, this rule will be applicable only for tourists from some countries. Tourists coming to Saudi via Pakistan, Afghanistan, Kenya, Congo or Mozambique will be allowed to travel only after showing polio vaccination certificate. However, this rule will be applicable only if their stay in the transit area is for more than 12 hours.
Indonesia also issued new rules
SCAA says that its objective is to take care of the safety of the countrymen as well as the tourists. However, Saudi is not the only country to implement strict health protocols, as tourists coming to Indonesia will also have to fill the electronic Satusehat Health Pass (SSHP). It is said in the website of SSHP that you will be able to travel to Indonesia only after providing information about your health condition and travel history.
Let us tell you that the new rule has been made keeping in mind the plan made by the World Health Organization (WHO) to stop the outbreak of MPox.
