The Union Cabinet has approved the appointment of Sanjay Malhotra as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Sanjay Malhotra, a 1990 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and currently Revenue Secretary, will assume charge on December 11, 2024. The tenure of the RBI Governor is usually three years. Sanjay Malhotra will replace Shaktikanta Das in this role, whose tenure is ending on December 10, 2024.

Whereas, if we talk about the salary of other top officials in RBI, the salary of the Deputy Governor is Rs 2.25 lakh per month. Whereas, the salary of Executive Director is Rs 2.16 lakh per month.
Who is the new Governor of RBI Sanjay Malhotra?
Sanjay Malhotra is a 1990 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. He has studied engineering in computer science from IIT, Kanpur and has a master’s degree in public policy from Princeton University. Let us tell you, in his career spanning 33 years, he has shown excellent leadership and experience in various sectors like power, finance and taxation, information technology, mining. Presently he is working as Revenue Secretary in the Finance Ministry. Before this he was holding the post of Secretary, Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance.
