Rajendra Nath Story: Rajendra Nath was a famous Bollywood actor and comedian. Everyone was impressed by his acting. His comedy was also amazing. Rajendra Nath had earned a lot of fame in the 60s and 70s. He gained a lot of popularity from the 1961 film ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’.
Rajendra played the character named Popatlal in this film. Later the actor started being known by this name. Let us tell you that Rajendra Nath was the younger brother of popular Bollywood actor Prem Nath. Whereas Raj Kapoor was his brother-in-law. Raj Kapoor was married to Prem and Rajendra’s sister Krishna.
Rajendra wanted to become a doctor
Rajendra was born on 8 June 1931 in Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh. His father was the IG of Police of Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. Rajendra dreamed of becoming a doctor. But he and his brother Prem Nath had chosen the path of the film world. Rajendra came to Mumbai to make a career in films.
Worked in more than 250 films
Rajendra Nath had moved to Mumbai on the insistence of his brother Prem. After coming to Mumbai, he started working in Prithvi Theatre. During this period, the actor worked in plays like Pathan, Deewar, Aahuti and Shakuntala. Later the film journey started. But initially he faced failure, but the character of Popatlal in the film ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’ gave him special recognition. He worked in 253 films in his long and successful career.
Were left bankrupt due to this decision
After becoming a successful actor, Rajendra decided to make the film ‘The Gate Crasher’ as a filmmaker and invested all his money on the film. He cast Randhir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor for the lead roles. He had no knowledge of filmmaking. Due to this, the shooting of the film had to be stopped after 10 days.
Due to stoppage of shooting of the film, Rajendra had to return the money to the distributors. But he had also invested the money taken from the loan on the film. Gradually the actor started drowning in debt and his financial condition became very bad. He had said in a media interview that, ‘The distributors of UP and Delhi made me cry tears of blood. Despite knowing my situation, people took more interest from me and made me withdraw every penny. Let us tell you that Rajendra Nath died on 13 February 2008.
