Afghanistan Cricket Team Assistant Coach R. Sridhar: Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has made a big change in the coaching staff. Now former Indian player and former fielding coach R Sridhar will be the assistant coach of Afghanistan. Afghanistan has to play Test series against New Zealand and South Africa. R Sridhar will coach Afghanistan in this series. Earlier, R Sridhar has worked with Team India during Ravi Shastri’s tenure (coaching) in Team India. Now this player will work with the Afghanistan cricket team.
R Sridhar has played for Hyderabad as a left-arm spinner. This player started his coaching career in 2001. He joined India’s junior team during the 2014 Under-19 World Cup. After this, he was the spin bowling coach of Kings XI Punjab in the IPL from 2014 to 2017. At the same time, he also joined the Indian team this year. Sridhar is a Level-3 certified coach, ACB has said that Sridhar can also be given a long contract in the future.
Let us tell you that R Sridhar never got a chance to play for the Indian cricket team. However, he definitely showed his talent in domestic cricket. Sridhar has played 35 first class matches and 14 List A matches, in which he took 91 and 14 wickets respectively.
Recently, Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan’s performance in the T20 World Cup was excellent. Afghanistan made it to the semi-finals. Although Afghanistan had to face defeat against South Africa in the semi-finals, the performance of this team made a lot of headlines.
