Physical Disability Cricket World Cup: Greater Noida The Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), a support body of the BCCI, led by Jai Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the governing body of cricket in India, is working to promote the differently abled in the game of cricket. DCCI (PD & Wheelchair) Chairman (Corporate Affairs & Communication) Rajesh Bhardwaj met Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya at Shram Shakti Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday, July 19 and informed him about DCCI and the work it is doing for the differently abled. During this, he also informed the Sports Minister about the physically disabled cricket tournaments to be held in the near future.
Rajesh Bhardwaj said that this meeting with Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was very successful and during this the Sports Minister expressed his full support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission for the disabled. In this meeting, Rajesh Bhardwaj presented Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya with a DCCI T-shirt, cap, diary and pen, which he gladly accepted.
DCCI (PD & Wheelchair) Chairman (Corporate Affairs & Communication) Rajesh Bhardwaj said that today’s meeting with the Sports Minister is very important with the blessings of Shri Khatu Shyam Baba and this meeting will prove to be a milestone for the disabled players of the country and the world.
Rajesh Bhardwaj informed that the Chief Patron of DCCI (PD & Wheelchair) Maharaj Shri Pratap Singh Chauhan Ji (President, Shri Shyam Mandir Committee, Sikar), General Secretary of DCCI Ravi Chauhan, Joint Secretary of DCCI Squadron Leader Abhay Pratap Singh were not present for the meeting with the Sports Minister due to some reasons and he informed the Honorable Sports Minister about the contribution of these people.
Rajesh Bhardwaj informed the Sports Minister that the physically disabled cricket team of Afghanistan is coming to India in the month of August. During this tour, a series will be played between the physically disabled cricket teams of India and Afghanistan in Rajasthan. After this, a national tournament of physically disabled cricket teams of 24 states of India is being organized in Udaipur, Rajasthan in the month of October. Rajesh Bhardwaj told the Sports Minister that it is a matter of great pride for us that India has got the hosting of the Physically Disabled Cricket World Cup which will be organized in the month of December. Physically disabled cricket teams of 8 countries will participate in this World Cup.
Rajesh Bhardwaj said that he called upon the Sports Minister to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission for the disabled and requested him to extend full cooperation from the Sports Ministry. Rajesh Bhardwaj requested Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya to easily get NOC for the teams coming from other countries so that they do not have to face any problem. Rajesh Bhardwaj said that during the meeting, the Sports Minister has assured him of full cooperation.
Rajesh Bhardwaj said that he requested the Union Sports Minister to instruct his ministry and the state level to provide all possible support to these disabled children. Apart from this, Rajesh Bhardwaj also requested the Sports Minister to allocate funds for physically disabled cricket from various PSUs and government departments.
Rajesh Bhardwaj said that DCCI is trying to provide a big platform to the disabled players of the country and the organization is constantly working in this direction. DCCI is constantly organizing cricket matches for Differently Abled/Blind/Deaf/Wheelchair players in the country and is working to promote the players at national and international level.
Rajesh Bhardwaj said that he wants these physically disabled children playing cricket to get the same facilities related to the game as the main cricket team gets. He wants these children to get coaching like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, five star hotels like them should be arranged for their stay, and air-conditioned buses like the Indian team should be used for their transportation.
Rajesh Bhardwaj informed that DCCI (PD & Wheelchair) has successfully organized 2 Physically Disabled Cricket Series so far this year. A 3 match Physically Disabled Cricket Series was held between India and England teams in Ahmedabad from 26 January to 6 February in which the Indian team won 3 – 0. After this, Sri Lanka’s Wheelchair Cricket Team visited India from 11 June to 16 June and a series of 5 T-20 matches was organized in Greater Noida. In this series, the Indian team won 5 – 0.
DCCI (PD & Wheelchair) Chairman (Corporate Affairs & Communication) Rajesh Bhardwaj said that they are continuously working to bring CSR funds and sponsorship from big corporates and business houses. APL Apollo Steel Tubes, Finolex Pipes, Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited, GD Mining, Surya Roshni, Payomatix, CRC Group and Jindal Group are associated with the Indian Differently Abled and Wheelchair Cricket Team as sponsors. Along with this, some big business houses are also going to join DCCI in the coming days, prominent among which are JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., Mankind Pharma, CP Plus, Priya Gold Biscuits, Rupa Company, Dollar Industries and Manyavar.
Rajesh Bhardwaj said that Shyam Premi from 29 states of the country are coming forward with the spirit of service to boost the morale of these players and are supporting these physically disabled children. Mr. Bhardwaj also appealed to the small and big corporates of the country to come forward and support these disabled players.
