Navdeep Singh on PM Modi Support Paralympic Athletes: Navdeep Singh is also trending on the internet and social media these days. Recently, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also met all the athletes participating in the Paralympics 2024, during which PM Modi also joked with Navdeep and other athletes. But a podcast of Navdeep is also going viral at this time, in which he was asked whether politics also has an impact on the Olympics and Paralympics.
Did you get support from Modi government?
Actually, Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat had recently accused Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha of doing politics. Navdeep was asked in this regard whether there is internal politics in the Olympic and Paralympic Games. And whether the athletes got any kind of support from the Indian government or not.
Navdeep replied, “I cannot say anything about politics, but there was a lot of support from the government. We had a huge team of people from physios to masseurs. A huge recovery room was built there, in which a lot of money must have been spent.”
Everyone has different coaches
Navdeep further said that there are different category events for the same sport in Paralympics. It is a big deal for the athletes performing in all the categories to have different coaches. He said, “If we talk only about javelin throw and high jump, India has got four medals each. There were 2-3 athletes in each category and everyone had a different coach. Supporting staff is very important and a single physio cannot take care of all the athletes at the same time. Overall, the government supported the athletes in a very good way.”
