After this, the countrymen were waiting for Mirabai Chanu’s women’s 49 kg weightlifting event. Which was to start at 11:30 pm. In which Mirabai Chanu wanted to make her birthday special by winning an Olympic medal. But this could not happen. Let us tell you that Mirabai Chanu was born on 8 August 1994 in Kakching village of Manipur. Which is in Imphal East.
Missed Olympic medal by 1 kg weight
Mirabai Chanu impressed everyone with her stellar performance at the Paris Olympics 2024, but unfortunately she fell just one kilogram short of another Olympic medal. Lifting a total of 199 kg, Mirabai finished fourth and missed the medal race by one kilogram.
Tokyo Olympics 2020 silver medalist Mirabai Chanu showcased her talent by performing brilliantly in Paris. Despite being out of competition for four months due to a serious hip injury in the Asian Games, she did not let her preparation fall short. She had set a target of lifting more than 200 kg, but this dream could not be fulfilled.
In the clean and jerk round, Mirabai Chanu had set a target of lifting 111 kg. However, the first attempt was unsuccessful. But she did not give up and successfully lifted 111 kg in the second attempt. In the last attempt, she had set a target of lifting 114 kg, but she could not succeed in it.
