: The issue of Hindenburg Report, which leveled allegations against market regulator SEBI’s chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch, is still not calming down. Recently, the Congress party had leveled some allegations against Madhabi Puri Buch. Now the SEBI chief has presented his clarification on these. He has once again reiterated that there is no truth in these allegations. He had already given all the information related to his investments and jobs to SEBI.
Congress had accused Madhabi Puri Buch and Dhawal Buch
Madhabi Puri Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch broke their silence on the allegations made by the Congress on Friday and said that such things are being said against them deliberately. This is an attempt to create a fake narrative. Without naming the Congress, they said that these allegations have no basis. They have indicated that legal action can also be taken against them.
No decision related to ICICI Group was taken
Congress had accused Madhabi Puri Buch and Dhawal Buch of conflict of interest and corruption. The opposition party says that they have received income from other companies including ICICI Group through their consultancy firm Agora Advisory. Madhabi Puri Buch said that we had informed SEBI about all investments, properties and companies in the year 2017 itself. Such allegations are tarnishing our reputation and are false. Their purpose is something else. The SEBI chief said that during her tenure she did not deal with any file related to ICICI Group. She said that in the year 2011 she went on unpaid leave from ICICI Bank. In such a situation, the question of working at two places simultaneously does not arise.
Getting our ITR is a violation of the law
In her clarification, the SEBI chief said that in 2013, she had separated herself from ICICI Bank when she decided to live with her husband in Singapore. She said that these allegations are being made on the basis of income tax returns. When we had given all the information in the ITR, then how can the allegations be made. Obtaining our ITR is also a violation of the law. We have earned money with complete transparency and honesty.
