Olympics 2024 Parisian Hotel Rooms Empty: Only two days are left for the Paris Olympics 2024 to begin. Let us tell you that the Olympics 2024 is going to start in Paris from July 26. In which more than ten thousand athletes from all over the world will be present there to show their game. Similarly, 117 athletes from India have also gone to participate in Paris Olympics 2024. Still, Paris, the capital of France, is facing a shortage of tourists. The hotel owners there are sleepless. Their rooms are lying vacant. A similar trend is being seen in air travel as well.
Paris is facing a shortage of tourists
Even though the stadiums will be full of spectators in the Paris Olympic Games, most of the spectators are expected to be from France. According to the Paris Tourism Board, 1.13 crore people are going to visit Paris during the Olympics, out of which only 15 lakh are foreign tourists.
Inflation has broken the back of tourists, hotel rooms remain empty
Hotel owners were expecting a flood of guests during the Olympics, but that did not happen. Alan Bachand, who runs a sports travel company, says that he usually books hotels in advance, but this time the hotel rates were so high that his sales have fallen by 80%.
According to Fortune’s report, the rates of hotel rooms in Paris are being continuously reduced. Some luxury hotels have also made the rooms cheaper. Gilles Le Bras, director of Orso Hotels, says that to remain in competition with other hotels, he also had to reduce the rates. However, not all hotels are reducing the rates. Generator Hostel anyway gives rooms at low rates, it has doubled the rate of its cheapest room during this period.
The same trend is seen in traffic as well
Apart from hoteliers, airline companies and travel agencies were expecting a boom in business during the Olympics, but they were disappointed. Airlines are also running in losses. Delta Airlines estimates that they will incur a loss of $100 million during this period. Air France had also increased flights, but now they are also reducing fares. During this time, the price of metro tickets in Paris is skyrocketing, the tax for tourists has increased three times, and the weather in July is also not very good.
