He secured the first position by covering a distance of 89.34 meters and was followed by Anderson Peters of Grenada in the second position, who threw the javelin at a distance of 88.63 meters. Julian Weber of Germany was at the third position, who covered a distance of 87.76 meters. At the same time, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan remained at the fourth position overall with a distance of 86.59 meters.
At least 12 athletes qualify for the final of the javelin throw competition. A total of 7 athletes have made it directly to the final by crossing the 84 meter mark in the qualification round. After these 7 athletes, the five athletes with the best throw will enter the final. Neeraj Chopra will now be seen in action in the final on August 8 for the gold medal.
