Paris Olympics 2024 28 July India Schedule: The first day of Paris Olympics 2024 was quite spectacular. Even though India did not get any medal on the first day, almost all the athletes were successful in winning their respective events for the next stage. Now today i.e. on July 28, Indian athletes will be seen in action again, which includes athletes from boxing to badminton, archery, shooting and tennis. All eyes will also be on many Indian world champion athletes.
The eyes of the countrymen will be on these star athletes
- Manu Bhaker: Manu Bhaker is eyeing a medal in shooting. Disappointed with the pistol malfunction at Tokyo 2020, Bhaker scored 580 points in the women’s 10m air pistol qualifying round. Her final match will be held today at 3:30 pm. If she wins, she will become the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting.
- PV Sindhu: In badminton, PV Sindhu will start her campaign today. She will face Fatima Nabaha Abdul Razzaq of Maldives in Group M at 12:50 pm. Sindhu won silver at Rio 2016 and bronze at Tokyo 2020. Now she is eyeing to win the gold medal at Paris 2024.
- Ankita Bhagat, Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur: The women’s archery team comprising Ankita Bhagat, Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur finished fourth in the ranking round. In the quarter-finals, the team will face France or Netherlands at 5:45 pm. Medal rounds will also be held today.
- Nikhat Zareen: In boxing, Nikhat Zareen will take on Germany’s Maxi Carina Klotzer in the women’s 50kg round of 32 at 3:50 pm IST in her first Olympics.
- Sharat Kamal and Manika Batra: In table tennis, veteran Sharath Kamal will play against Denny Kozul in the men’s singles round of 64. In the women’s round of 64, Manika Batra will face Anna Hersey of Great Britain and Sreeja Akula will face Christina Kalberg of Sweden.
- Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram: In tennis, Rohan Bopanna and N Sriram Balaji will play against France’s Gael Monfils and Edouard Roger-Vasselin on clay courts in the Round of 32. The match was postponed due to rain on Saturday.
- Srihari Nataraj and Dhinidhi Desingu: In swimming, Srihari Nataraj (men’s 100m backstroke) and Dhinidhi Desingu (women’s 200m freestyle) will compete in their heats. Srihari Nataraj’s event is at 3:15 pm, while Dhinidhi Desingu’s event is at 3:30 pm.
- Balraj Pawar: In rowing, Balraj Panwar will participate in the men’s single sculls repechage round. Panwar finished fourth in his heat on Saturday and could not automatically qualify for the quarter-finals.
