Shan Masood Removed from Pakistan Captaincy: Under the captaincy of Shan Masood, Pakistan had to face defeat by an innings and 47 runs in the first test against England. This is the sixth consecutive Test match lost by the Pakistan team under his captaincy and due to this poor performance, Pakistan has come to the last place in the table of the World Test Championship. Now according to a Pakistani media channel, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) can remove Shan Masood from the captaincy.
According to the report, the board is currently considering Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel and Salman Aga as options for the new captain. It was told that today the PCB selection committee and both the head coaches can hold a meeting. Some new names can be considered for captaincy in this meeting. Remind that Shan Masood was appointed captain on 15 November 2023 and he was going to remain the captain till the end of the schedule of World Test Championship 2025.
Shan Masood failed as captain
The Pakistan team last won a Test against Sri Lanka in July 2023 and at that time Sarfaraz Ahmed was the captain of the team. After that, just before the team’s tour of Australia, the captaincy was handed over to Shan Masood. Pakistan lost 3-0 in the series against Australia and Shan’s captaincy came under maximum criticism when Pakistan was defeated 2-0 by Bangladesh in its own home. Now, due to the innings defeat against England, questions were bound to be raised on Shan’s captaincy.
On the other hand, Babar Azam has left the captaincy of the ODI and T20 team a few days ago, even after that his personal performance has not improved. In such a situation, discussions have intensified about Pakistan team getting a new captain in all three formats.
