India world record Fastest 200 runs in Test Cricket: Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the Indian team is setting new records. Team India has made the record of scoring the fastest 50 runs in the history of Test cricket, then 100 runs and now the fastest 200 runs. India has made this world record in the match against Bangladesh on 30 September 2024.

In the second Test match being played in Kanpur, on the fourth day, Indian bowlers had bundled out Bangladesh team on the score of 233 runs. After that Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came to open for Team India. Jaiswal had made his intentions clear by hitting 3 consecutive fours in the very first over. The pair of Rohit and Jaiswal scored runs in rapid fashion and took India’s score to 51 runs in just 3 overs. The Indian team had completed its fifty in just 18 balls. Earlier this record was in the name of England, who had crossed the 50-run mark in 26 balls against West Indies this year.

Captain Rohit Sharma was out after scoring 23 runs, just a few balls after completing his fifty in 3 overs. Although Shubman Gill played in a somewhat composed manner in the beginning, Jaiswal, on the other hand, had no intention of stopping. India completed its century with a four on the first ball of the 11th over. Team India has destroyed its own record in this matter. India had scored 100 runs in 74 balls against West Indies in 2023, but against Bangladesh the team has written a new history by scoring 100 runs in just 61 balls.

After completing 100 runs, Team India lost wickets at regular intervals. Jaiswal scored 72 runs, while Shubman Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 39 runs. Even though other batsmen including Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant could not play big innings, they maintained their fast batting rhythm. Ultimately India touched the 200-run mark on the 146th ball of its innings. Earlier this record was in the name of Australia, which had completed 200 runs in 169 balls against Pakistan in 2017.
