The actress we are talking about is none other than Nimrat Kaur. Nimrat has made her mark in films today on the basis of her hard work.
Nimrat Kaur was born on 13 March 1982 in a Sikh family in Pilani, Rajasthan. His father Major Bhupinder Singh was an Indian Army officer. Due to her father being in the army, Nimrat kept changing cities and schools for a few years.
In 1994, when she was just 11 years old, her father was kidnapped and murdered by terrorists. At that time his family was living in Patiala. After her father was martyred in a terrorist encounter, Nimrat, along with her mother Avinash Kaur and younger sister Rubina Kaur, shifted to Noida.
Before moving to Mumbai to become an actress, Nimrat studied at the prestigious institute Delhi Public School, Noida and Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. Nimrat first started her career as a model and then she also did theater to hone her acting skills.
Nimrat had to struggle a lot in her early days. In an interview given to Pinkvilla, Nimrat told that after studying she had come to Mumbai. For work, he had his photographs clicked and given to 100 agencies. The actress had told that she used to go to give the pictures herself.
Nimrat had also told that in those days she did not even have money for a cab. Even calling home from mobile was costly for her, so she used to call PCO and talk to her mother. The actress had described these struggle-filled days as quite challenging.
In 2004, Nimrat appeared in Kumar Sanu’s Tera Mera Pyaar and Shreya Ghoshal’s Ye Kya Hua music videos.
In 2005, Nimrat was seen in a blink-and-miss role in Shoojit Sircar’s war drama Yahaan. He started his film career in 2006 with the English film One Night with the King. Nimrat got her first lead role in 2012 in Peddlers directed by Vasan Bala and produced by Anurag Kashyap. Although this film was never released.
After this, in 2013, Nimrat achieved success with her best performance in The Lunchbox. The film, directed by Ritesh Batra and starring Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is considered one of the best Indian films of the 21st century.
Nimrat Kaur gained popularity after acting with Akshay Kumar in the 2016 film Airlift. Then she appeared in the 2022 film Dasvi opposite Abhishek Bachchan and in the 2023 film Sajini Shinde’s Viral Video. Nimrat has also been a part of international shows Homeland, Wayward Pines and Foundation and Indian web series The Test Case and School of Lies.
Today Nimrat has earned a lot of name from Bollywood to Hollywood and also on OTT.
