New Zealand Beat India first time in 36 years: New Zealand has defeated India by 8 wickets in the first test match played in Bengaluru. On the last day, the 72-run partnership between Rachin Ravindra and Will Young ensured the victory of Team India. The only bowler to take a wicket for India on the fifth day of the match was Jasprit Bumrah, who dismissed 2 batsmen. New Zealand has won a test match in India after 36 years.
The first day of the Bengaluru Test was washed out due to rain, whereas when the toss took place on the second day, India chose to bat first. The result of taking batting first was that the entire Team India was all out after scoring only 46 runs. In reply, New Zealand scored 402 runs and took a huge lead of 356 runs in the first innings. For the Kiwi team, Rachin Ravindra played a century inning of 134 runs and Tim Saudi also made an important contribution of 65 runs.
India’s strong comeback
Captain Rohit Sharma himself had said that choosing to bat in the first innings was one of the worst decisions of his career. But when Team India came to bat in the second innings, it troubled the New Zealand bowlers a lot. In the second innings, although Yashasvi Jaiswal was out after scoring 35 runs, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played half-centuries of 52 and 70 runs respectively. After that Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant took command, between whom there was a brilliant partnership of 177 runs. Sarfaraz scored 150 runs, while Rishabh Pant’s innings ended on the score of 99. After the dismissal of these two, Indian batting collapsed on the fourth day and the innings ended at the score of 462.

Till now, New Zealand had been able to win only 2 test matches on Indian soil in the history of test cricket. His first victory came in 1969 and his second victory in 1988. Now 36 years later, New Zealand has created history by winning the Bengaluru Test. Matt Henry had a big contribution in New Zealand’s victory, who took a total of 8 wickets in 2 innings, while William O’Rourke also took 7 wickets. Apart from him, in batting, Rachin Ravindra scored a total of 173 runs in both the innings.
