IPL 2025 Impact Player Rule: The Governing Council of IPL announced all the rules for IPL 2025 after the meeting held in Bengaluru on Saturday (28 September). This time, major changes were seen in many rules. Now teams will be able to retain a total of 6 players before the mega auction. During IPL 2024, many questions were raised on the rule of impact player. Many veterans believed that because of impact players, the importance of all-rounders in the team is waning. Many cricket experts had even demanded the removal of the rule. However, BCCI has not held any hearing in this matter.
The ‘Impact Player’ rule will continue
Let us tell you that along with the new rules, BCCI has also announced that the impact player rule will continue in IPA 2025. Not only in the 2025 IPL, this rule will continue in the 2025 to 2027 cycle.
BCCI had introduced the impact player rule in 2023. Since the beginning, people have different views regarding this rule. It is believed that with the arrival of the impact player, big scores are being seen in IPL. Big scores provide good entertainment to the fans. In such a situation, BCCI would not want to reduce the entertainment of the fans in any way.
Teams will be able to retain a total of 6 players
Before the mega auction of IPL 2025, teams will be able to retain a total of 6 players. However, 6 will include five capped and 1 uncapped player. Teams will be able to retain maximum 5 capped and maximum 2 uncapped players.
Auction date yet to come
It is worth noting that the date for the mega auction for IPL 2025 is yet to be announced. Now it will be interesting to see when BCCI announces the date for the mega auction.
