The city and centre-wise NEET-UG scores released by the National Testing Agency showed that there are 10 centres in Haryana and 8 in Kerala where more than 5% of the candidates scored more than 650 out of 720. This ratio is three times the national average of 1.3%. While all such centres in Kerala are in Kottayam, a famous coaching hub, in Haryana they are spread across 8 cities.
Apart from Sikar in Rajasthan, where most of the centres that were in the news had a high ratio of over 650 students, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Vijayawada and Malappuram had several centres where the ratio of such candidates was much higher than the national average.
According to reports, several centres in Haryana also had a high ratio of students scoring above 600. But clustering of 700+ scores was more visible in two centres in Gujarat, where nine students each achieved this feat in one centre in Rajkot and Ahmedabad. The best performing centres had only 3-4 students with 700+ marks.
The ratio of candidates scoring 600 marks was also much higher in many centres in Haryana than in many other centres. At Delhi Public School, Rewari, 22.7% of the students who took the exam scored above 600. This was the highest ratio for any centre not only in Haryana but also in any state. The centres in Rewari, Mahendragarh, Gurgaon, Hisar, Bhiwani and Sirsa in Haryana outperformed the centres in Gujarat, Delhi and Kerala in terms of high proportion of candidates scoring above 650 and 600.
