Monsoon Session 2024: The Union Budget 2024 has been approved in the Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman answered questions related to the budget in the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Tuesday. The opposition has been targeting the Modi government for a long time by raising the issue of employment. The Finance Minister has also answered this in Parliament. He said that the NDA government has created more than 12 crore jobs in the last 10 years.
He said that only 2 crore jobs were created in 10 years during the UPA’s tenure. The NDA government has created 10 crore more jobs than that. Along with this, he has also responded to the allegations of discrimination between states made by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi in Parliament.
There was no discrimination between states
On Monday, while addressing the Lok Sabha, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had alleged that the government announced projects in the budget for only two states. All other states have been discriminated against. On this, the Finance Minister said that not naming a state does not mean that we are not doing anything for it. Calling the opposition’s claim false, the Finance Minister said that even in the UPA government, names of all states were not taken during the budget. He said that 17 states were not named in the budget of 2004-05. 18 states were not named in the budget in 2006-07, 26 states were not named in the budget in 2009-10. In the year 2012-13, the UPA government did not name 13 states in the budget.
Increased allocation for every sector
During the discussion in the Lok Sabha, the Finance Minister said that the government has increased the allocation in every sector. In the financial year 2013-14, Rs 0.30 lakh crore was allocated for the agriculture sector, which has now been increased to Rs 1.52 lakh crore. This year, the government has allocated Rs 1.48 lakh crore more than last year for education and employment. The government is going to spend Rs 3.27 lakh crore for women and girls. In the financial year 2013-24, Rs 0.96 lakh crore was spent in this sector. The government will spend Rs 1.46 lakh for the health sector.
