ICC Rankings ODI Allrounders: The Indian cricket team is currently the world’s number one team in ODI and T20 formats, while Team India is at second position in the Test rankings. Among these, there is such a format in which Team India is proving to be lagging behind in the ranking of individual players. We are talking about the ranking of all-rounder players in ODI cricket, in which there is not a single Indian player in the top-10 list.
Talking about white ball cricket, India currently has world class all-rounder players like Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya. Ravindra Jadeja is currently India’s top all-rounder player in ODI cricket, who is at 13th position. Another unfortunate thing is that apart from Jadeja, there is no other Indian player in the list of top-20 all-rounders. Hardik Pandya is at 22nd position in this list. Axar Patel, who has represented Team India in more than 50 ODI matches, is nowhere to be seen in this list. He is not even present in the top-50. At the top of this list is Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi, who has announced his retirement from ODI cricket after the Champions Trophy 2025.
Why are Indian players in bad condition?
One of the main reasons for the poor ranking of India’s all-rounder players in the ODI format is that Team India has played only 3 ODI matches in 2024. These three ODI matches were played in the month of August, where the Indian team had to face 2-0 defeat against Sri Lanka in the series. If we look at the ranking of batsmen in ODI cricket, there are three Indian batsmen in the top-10. Rohit Sharma (second), Shubman Gill (third) and Virat Kohli (fourth) are at the position. In the ODI format, three bowlers of the world number-1 team i.e. India are currently in the top-10. Kuldeep Yadav (third), Jasprit Bumrah (eighth) and Mohammad Siraj are at tenth position.
