Key Changes Ahead Of Mega Auction 2025: Many big changes will be seen in the IPL 2025 season. Before this, IPL mega auction is to be organized. It is believed that a mega auction may take place in November-December. At the same time, BCCI and IPL Governing Council have made many major changes before the mega auction. After this change IPL will change completely. However, we will take a look at 3 major changes in BCCI and IPL Governing Council.
Retained players number
This time IPL teams will be able to retain maximum 5 players. Apart from this, teams will be able to add any one of their players through Right to Match Card (RTM). In this way, IPL teams will have a chance to re-induct their 6 old players. Earlier this number was 3, but this time 5 players will be able to be retained. This is the highest number in IPL history, till now there was no option to retain 5 players before any auction.
Team purses in auction
Before the IPL Mega Auction 2025, BCCI and IPL Governing Council took a big decision. Till now the purse of IPL teams was Rs 95 crore, but now this purse has been increased. Now IPL teams will have a purse of Rs 120 crore. However, the amount of money that IPL teams retain players before the mega auction will be reduced from the purse. For example, if a team retains its 5 players for Rs 50 crore, then that team will go into the auction with Rs 70 crore.
BCCI tightened its grip on foreign players
After the new rule of BCCI, now registration has been made mandatory for foreign players every time before the mega auction. If foreign players fail to do so, they will be declared ineligible for the auction. Apart from this, if a team buys a player in the auction and that player declares himself unavailable before the start of the season, then that player will not be allowed to participate in the tournament. Also, that player will not be allowed to participate in the auction for 2 seasons.
