Hardik Pandya IPL 2025: Retention rules have been revealed before the mega auction of IPL 2025. Now teams will be able to retain six players. Meanwhile, a surprising statement has come from former Australian cricketer Tom Moody. Moody has also given coaching to IPL teams. Moody’s has said that it is not sure whether Pandya should be retained for Rs 18 crore or not. Pandya was the captain of Mumbai Indians last season.
According to media reports, teams can retain two players worth Rs 18 crore each, two players worth Rs 14 crore each and two players worth Rs 11 crore each. According to a news from Cricinfo, Moody said on this issue, “According to the way things happened in the last season, nothing can be said about Rohit. I think Bumrah (Jasprit Bumrah) and Suryakumar Yadav should be retained for Rs 18 crore each. I don’t think Pandya will be included in this list.
Moody said, “Pandya may get Rs 14 crore.” It will also depend on his form and fitness. But when you talk about all these areas, do you think they should get Rs 18 crores? When you spend Rs 18 crore, you will buy a good match-winning player.
It is noteworthy that Mumbai Indians had removed Rohit Sharma from the captaincy just before IPL 2024. Hardik Pandya was made the captain in his place. The team’s performance was very poor this season. There was a lot of controversy regarding the removal of Rohit from the captaincy. Now nothing can be said on whether Rohit will stay with the team or not.
Pandya is an all-rounder player and has performed brilliantly on many occasions. But the last IPL season was nothing special for Pandya. He has played 137 matches in this league so far. During this period 2525 runs have been scored. Pandya has scored 10 half-centuries. He has shown excellence in bowling and has also taken 64 wickets.
