Indian 2 will be released on OTT platform: Kamal Haasan’s film Indian 2 was released in theatres last month. The makers were hoping that this film would wreak havoc in theatres, as its original i.e. the first installment had done wonders and there was a rain of money in theatres. However, this did not happen with this film and it flopped. Now the makers are going to release this film on OTT. But there is a twist in releasing it on OTT as well, let’s know what the issue is.
Indian 2 will not come in Hindi
Indian 2 has proved to be a disaster. In such a situation, the makers are releasing this film on OTT within a month of running it in theaters. The film is coming on Netflix. On Sunday, Netflix announced that ‘Indian 2’ will premiere on their OTT platform in many languages except Hindi. Indian 2, the sequel to Indian (1996), will be available for streaming on Netflix from August 9 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada languages.
Netizens trolled
Netflix made the announcement by sharing the poster and wrote, ‘Buckle up, Indian Thatha is back to challenge the system again. Indian 2, releasing on Netflix on August 9 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada’. As soon as this was done, many netizens mocked the film for releasing too early. Some netizens have also criticized the film for not releasing in Hindi. An internet user wrote, ‘Go back Indian’. Another user wrote, ‘When will Indian 2 come in Hindi’. A user wrote, ‘Thatha came to OTT too early’. Another user said, ‘Crap film, Indian 1 was 10 times better’.
Indian 2 box office collection
Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 was released in theatres on 12th July. But the film received negative views from critics and people. Made on a budget of around Rs 250 crore, the film has barely earned Rs 147 crore worldwide. It was also said with this film that Indian 3 will come after Indian 2 and some glimpses of the film have also been shown with Indian 2.
Netflix is not ready to buy it for 120 crores
According to Track Tollywood’s report, Netflix acquired the streaming rights of Indian 2 for Rs 120 crore and made the payment before the theatrical release, but Kamal Haasan’s film has proved to be a complete disaster. This is why Netflix now says that it does not agree to the deal of Rs 120 crore and wants a large part of its money back.
