IND vs AUS 1st Test Perth Pitch Report: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is starting between India and Australia from 22nd November. The first test match will be played in Perth, where Team India may face difficulties. Perth’s pitch is known for its fast pace and bounce and this time also the mood of the pitch may remain similar. In such a situation, the first test can be called a tough test for the batsmen.
“This is Australia, this is Perth. I want to make sure the pitch gives the bowlers pace, bounce and carries the ball very well,” said Isaac McDonald, chief curator of Western Australia cricket, according to ESPN Cricinfo. McDonald is trying to prepare the same pitch as it was during the first Test match between Australia and Pakistan in December last year. Let us remind you that a total of 35 wickets fell in that match, out of which 28 wickets were in the name of fast bowlers. Pakistan team lost that match by 360 runs.
India’s condition will be like Pakistan’s!
Perth’s Optus Stadium has been hosting Test matches continuously since 2017. On the question of how the pitch will look, curator Macdonald said that leaving 10 mm of grass is being considered. Such a pitch had proved good last year also and the pitch remained stable for the first few days. Grass on the pitch means help to the fast bowlers.” McDonald said that like last year’s Australia-Pakistan match, this time too the pitch is being prepared to suit the fast bowlers.
If we look at the squads of both the teams, India has left for the Australian tour with five fast bowling options in the form of Jasprit Bumrah, Akashdeep, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj. Apart from these, Nitish Kumar Reddy has also been included in the squad as a fast bowling all-rounder. On the other hand, Australia has announced the team only for the first Test, which has five fast bowling options including Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Scott Boland and Mitchell Marsh.
