IND vs AUS Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024: The first match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 is being played in Perth. Who would have thought that more than 15 wickets would have fallen on the very first day and many records would have been broken. As expected, the Perth pitch provided a lot of help to the fast bowlers, due to which Team India was all out after scoring only 150 runs in the first innings. The Kangaroo team seemed happy to dispose of India cheaply, but the Indian bowlers have shown a mirror to Australia on their own home ground.
When the Australian batsmen came to the crease after the end of India’s first innings, 13 runs had been scored in just 2 overs. From here, Jasprit Bumrah wreaked such havoc that Australian batsmen kept coming and going one by one. The most noteworthy thing here was that by 38 runs, half of the Australian team had returned to the pavilion.
Australia embarrassed for the second time in 44 years
This is only the second time since 1980 that Australia has lost 5 wickets in a home Test innings before reaching the score of 40. Before India, South Africa had done this in the year 2016, when in the match played in Hobart, half the Kangaroo team had returned to the pavilion till the score of 17 runs. The wicket-taking for India was started by captain Jasprit Bumrah, who had dismissed three Australian batsmen even before the end of the fourth over of his spell.
Let us also tell you that Australia’s lowest score in a test match against India is 83 runs. In the second innings of the Test match played in 1981, India had registered a memorable victory by 59 runs by bowling out the Kangaroos for just 83 runs.
