Surya Kumar Yadav Statement: A three-match T20 series was played between India and Sri Lanka. Team India clean swept Sri Lanka by winning all three matches. The third and last T20 of the series went to the Super Over, in which Team India won easily. After this victory, Suryakumar Yadav told how this match has given a ‘lesson’ to everyone. Surya told how such matches create ‘balance’ in life.
Speaking after the match, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav said, “More than the last over, I think how the boys showed character in the middle when we were around 30/4 and 48/5 and took the game away from them… I think 140 was a winnable score on this track. When we were going in for the fielding session, I said, ‘I have seen matches like this and if we put our heart into it for an hour and a half, we can pull it off.’ If you are enjoying hitting 200-220 and winning the match, you should also enjoy 30/4 and 70/5 because it brings balance to your life and that’s how you move forward and stay humble.”
Surya further said, “The amount of skill and confidence he brings makes my job very easy. The positivity they have on the field and in the dressing room, the care they have for each other is incredible. After the last match I said that some boys will rest and he was the first one to tell me that we will rest and you can give others a chance. It shows the character of the team and how he is happy for the performance of others. He made my job easy. There is little pressure when I go to bat, I just enjoy expressing myself. Like I said before the series that I am not a captain, I want to be a leader.”
