India won the title of Bihar Women’s Asian Champions Trophy by defeating China 1-0 in the final. Deepika scored the decisive goal of the match for India in the 31st minute.
For this historic victory of India, ‘Hockey India’ has announced a prize money of Rs 3 lakh to each player of the Indian team and Rs 1.5 lakh to each member of the support staff.
For the first time, the Asian Hockey Association gave rewards to the teams finishing on the podium. India will get around Rs 8.5 lakh, the runner-up will get around Rs 6 lakh and Japan, which stood third, will get around Rs 4.25 lakh.
If we look at the match, India got many chances in the first half, but China’s defense stood like a wall in front of the goalpost. For this reason the first half remained goalless.
At the beginning of the second half, India earned a penalty corner and Deepika converted it in the 31st minute to give India a 1-0 lead over China.
After the end of the final match, Bihar government announced a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh for each player of the winning team.
Apart from this, the government also announced to reward each member of the support staff with Rs 5 lakh each and head coach Harendra Singh with Rs 10 lakh.
