Praveen Kumar 38th Birthday: Former Indian fast bowler Praveen Kumar, famous for his swing bowling, is celebrating his 38th birthday today i.e. on October 02, 2024 (Wednesday). The name of the father of former Indian bowler was Sakat Singh. He was a constable in Uttar Pradesh Police. Sakat Singh had taken VRS from the police service. The Indian bowler’s father was at home for some years due to paralysis. Sakat Singh passed away on April 16, 2024. Even though Praveen’s father was a police officer, he decided to take up cricket and proved his mettle with his swing bowling.
Even though Praveen did not have much speed, his wavy balls were enough to deceive the batsmen. He played all three formats for India. He said goodbye to all formats of cricket in October 2018.
Cricketing career like this
It is noteworthy that Praveen played international cricket for India between 2007 and 2012. During this period, he played 6 Tests, 68 ODIs and 10 T20 International matches for the team. In the Test, he took 27 wickets in 11 innings at an average of 25.81. Apart from this, he took 77 wickets in 67 innings of ODI at an average of 36.02. He took 8 wickets in the remaining 10 innings of T20 International. In T20 International, he spent runs at an economy of 7.42.
Apart from this, he played first class cricket till 2017. Praveen, who played for Uttar Pradesh, played 66 first class matches in his career. Bowling in 121 innings of these matches, he took 267 wickets at an average of 23.61, in which his match best was 10/160.
