Indian Cricketer Praveen Kumar: Being a professional athlete is not easy. There have been ups and downs in the life of a player and India’s legendary bowler Praveen Kumar is also no exception to this. Some time ago, he had admitted in a media interview that he used to consume a lot of alcohol. He even cited senior players and accused him of defaming them.
Many incidents related to Praveen Kumar’s personal life have created a stir on the internet. He has struggled with depression and loneliness and even once ran after a doctor with a rifle in his hand. Praveen says that as far as drinking is concerned, this issue was exaggerated and an attempt was made to defame his name.
Everyone drinks alcohol, but…
Praveen Kumar said that when he was in the Indian team, most of the players used to drink alcohol, but only he was defamed. He said, “When I joined the Indian team, many senior players asked me to stop consuming alcohol and many other things. Everyone drank alcohol, but only I got a bad name. Many senior players were on good terms with us. Used to behave like that, but there was someone who had tarnished my name, I will not take the name of that person, but everyone knows who had tarnished my name.
Praveen Kumar retired from all forms of cricket in October 2018. He represented India in 68 ODI matches at the international level, taking 77 wickets, while he has 27 wickets in 6 Test matches. He took 8 wickets while playing 10 T20 matches in his career. He was known for his deadly swing bowling. Praveen Kumar played most of his matches under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.
