Aakash Chopra on India Travel Pakistan Champions Trophy: The Champions Trophy issue is becoming more serious with each passing day. The tournament is to be played in Pakistan in the month of February-March next year, but Team India has refused to go to Pakistan. PCB has also confirmed on this subject that ICC informed it through e-mail that the Indian team is not ready to come to Pakistan. Now former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has given a unique statement on the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan that there would be no meaning in holding the Champions Trophy without India.
While discussing on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said, “This is an ICC event, the broadcasters have invested a lot of money in it. Now if the ICC is not able to ensure India’s participation in the Champions Trophy, then the broadcasters will invest the money here. Or the financial strategies will be evaluated and the earnings from the Champions Trophy will also be less if India does not participate.
Pakistan cannot take advantage
Aakash Chopra also remembered the 2023 World Cup in his video, when the then PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf had said that he was sending his team to an ‘enemy country’. At that time it was said that if India refuses to come to Pakistan in future, then the Pakistan team will not go to India to play any match. According to Aakash Chopra, there is no issue here which Pakistan can take advantage of and this is the truth. Aakash Chopra said, “I believe that the Champions Trophy has no meaning in the absence of the Indian team. Every team including Pakistan understands this very well.”
Talking about PCB, Board Chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi has sought advice from the Pakistan Government on the stand of the Indian Government. If media reports are to be believed, the PCB Chairman is currently waiting to see what solution his government gives to this matter.
