Deep Dasgupta On Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli scored a brilliant century in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played against Australia in Perth. Then King Kohli appeared flop in the second test of the series played in Adelaide. Now even in the first innings of the third Test of the series being played at Gabba, Kohli’s bat appeared silent. Meanwhile, former Team India batsman Deepdas Gupta gave Gurumantra to Kohli and asked him to forget his favorite shot.
During India’s first innings in the Gabba Test, Virat Kohli was out after scoring only 03 runs. While trying to hit a cover drive on the ball outside the off stump, Kohli was caught by the keeper on the ball of Josh Hazlewood. Seeing this shot of Kohli, Deepdas Gupta said that he should forget his favorite shot.
Speaking on Star Sports, Deepdas Gupta said, “This is a mental issue, not a technical issue. You are such a big player. You can do a lot. You don’t need to prove. In the last 10-15 years, you have Proved what a great player you are.”
He further said, “You once made the boundary so big, make it smaller for a while. Then gradually, as you get set, your boundary will keep increasing. Forget the first 20 balls for a while.” That your favorite shot, which is the favorite shot for the audience, is the cover drive, forget it.”
The thing to note is that Virat Kohli has often been seen getting out while trying to play the cover drive. The second thing is that Kohli is out on the off stump ball at the very beginning of the innings. If he gets set, then he is not out on the off stump ball.
