Stock Market Closing On 22 August 2024: Due to excellent global signals and buying by domestic and foreign investors in the domestic market, the Indian stock market closed with a great rise in Thursday’s trading session. Today again buying was seen in the shares of FMCG and consumer durables sector. Midcap stocks also rose in today’s session. At the close of the market, the BSE Sensex closed at 81,053 points above 81,000 with a jump of 148 points. While the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty closed at 24,810 points with a gain of 40 points.

In today’s trade, 18 out of 30 Sensex stocks closed with gains and 12 with losses. Out of 50 Nifty stocks, 25 closed with gains and 25 with losses. Among the rising stocks, Bharti Airtel closed with a gain of 1.60%, Tata Steel 1.38%, ICICI Bank 1.38%, Titan 1%, JSW Steel 0.91%, Asian Paints 0.85%, Maruti 0.73%, SBI 0.45%, Bajaj Finserv 0.44%. While among the falling stocks, Mahindra & Mahindra closed with a loss of 1.20%, NTPC 1.20%, Tata Motors 1.16%, TCS 1.13%, Power Grid 0.83%, Sun Pharma 0.76%, Adani Ports 0.74%.
Market cap increased by 16 lakh crores in 5 sessions
Due to the rise in the stock market, the wealth of investors has increased in today’s session as well. The market cap of stocks listed on BSE has reached Rs 460.51 lakh crore, which was Rs 459.24 lakh crore in the last session. In today’s session, the market cap has seen a jump of Rs 1.27 lakh crore. In the last five trading sessions in the stock market, the wealth of investors has seen an increase of about Rs 16 lakh crore.

In today’s trading, buying was seen in the stocks of consumer durables, banking, FMCG, metals, infrastructure sector while the stocks of auto, IT, pharma, media, energy, healthcare and oil and gas sector closed with losses.
