Shri Khandelwal said that shops in the markets of towns and villages in all the metros, Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities of the country including Delhi are being decorated according to the theme of Diwali. Special care is being taken for colorful lights, rangoli, and other decorations so that customers get a festive atmosphere and more and more people come to the markets.
Traders are increasing the stock of goods
Keeping in mind the huge increase in demand during the festival, traders have already started increasing their stocks of various items especially gift items, clothes, jewellery, electronics, mobiles, furnishing, decoration materials, puja materials, rangoli etc. , Photos and idols of Gods and Goddesses, readymade garments, toys, food items, confectionery, electrical goods, consumer durables etc. are the main ones.
Traders are also increasing sales by giving promotional offers.
CAT National President Shri BC Bhartia said that various types of discounts and promotional offers are also being considered to attract customers. Shopkeepers are running schemes like ‘Buy One-Get One’ or Diwali discounts to attract customers. Since there is a huge crowd in the markets during Diwali, the police and local administration are being requested to make special arrangements for security and traffic control, while on the other hand the trade associations are also planning to hire additional private security guards at their level.
